Creating an Internet Startup in International Environment

This master thesis deals with an online startup project Tigeroy.ru, which I founded from a reason to make alternative education in real life more popular and easier to find on Russian market during 2012. The team behind the project has already spent some time with development of the application and it is now faced up to a question what to do with the startup. In the thesis, I focus on the product development from the initial idea to the current situation. I analyse all the mistakes which we have made until now and offer further steps and a plan how to continue in developing the project in future. As the result of the thesis, there is also a proposal of a business plan which is created for the purpose of informing a potential investor about the project.
Stories as a source of knowledge for decision-making

The aim of this Master thesis has been to summarize the current theoretical knowledge about the possibilities of using stories in management, especially their use as a tool for better and easier decision-making in a nowadays turbulent period, and to summarize the aspects explaining their positive contribution in this issue. In the practical part, the thesis focuses on exploring the use of stories by students of the University of Economics in Prague to decide on subjects and teachers. More specifically, the aim has been to find out how students are influenced by stories told by their colleagues in selection of subjects and teachers, how actively students use stories for obtaining and transmitting knowledge and information, in what form stories spread among students, which communication channel students prefer and why, what the quality of stories is and what the differences between Bachelor's and Master's students in those aspects are. The purpose of this research has been to demonstrate the power of stories in influencing individuals decision-making, applicable also to classical management in the corporate environment. As a research method, a combination of a quantitative and simple qualitative analysis in the form of the semi-structured questionnaire has been used. Based on the research, it has been found out that students do decide about subjects and teachers on the basis of others'stories, they do actively seek those stories and they do prefer personal narrative from friends, as this form has turned out to be considered as the most reliable for students, and also the one which will find the most consistent validation in what they will experience next. Students of Bachelor's and Master's studies differ in the selected communication channel and the activity with which they search for and use the stories.
Knowledge Sharing in the Enterprise

This thesis deals with the process of knowledge sharing, which is practiced in societies via knowledge management. It is a relatively new discipline in their entirety and it uses a pair of modern societies. To work was selected by Business Media CZ Ltd., in which the analysis was performed motivators acting on knowledge sharing. It is a small company, but with knowledge management a couple of years working and has surely what to improve. The work is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part of the work is handled via literature review and practical part contains its own processing. The first part describes the importance, objectives and basic concepts of knowledge management, what is a suitable environment for sharing knowledge and motivating employees to share knowledge and better performance. In the second part (custom processing) is used questionnaires, based on which it was drawn up a proposal to improve knowledge sharing within the organization.
The role of communication in the knowledge management

The theoretical part of the dissertation thesis called "The Role of Communication in the Knowledge Management" strives to identify the relationship between communication and knowledge management and results in finding that communication plays a critical role both in implementation of knowledge management and in the phase when knowledge management is implemented. The communication can shape environment for knowledge management as well as can be a tool for knowledge sharing. The research was focused on the situation of implemented knowledge management where the role of communication interferes to both the environment and the knowledge sharing. The research is based on three case studies that describe knowledge communication and its context in three similar successful and recognized organizations. Facts identified in the case studies are analyzed and discussed with experts in the area of personnel management and internal communication. Findings from the empirical research create basis for the design part which is aimed at identifying the way how to leverage the role of communication in knowledge management and how to use it to positively contribute to knowledge management goals. It results in a proposed system of tools of internal communication that supports knowledge communication. The system prefers face-to-face communication but includes also other tools of internal communication. The system is put into a broader context which is built out of knowledge management strategy, organizational culture and internal communication. There are recommendations defined for each of the elements that should support the right function of the knowledge communication. Rules and guidance for the knowledge communication are part of the thesis as well. Everything is based on practice of the researched organizations, was discussed with selected experts and validated with representatives from one of the organizations. The validation ensures feedback indicating practical applicability of the proposed system and defined guidance.

Difficulties with sharing knowledge using ICT tools

The Bachelor thesis focuses on the role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the process of sharing knowledge in school environment. The main objectives of the work are identifying difficulties that were caused during the process of sharing knowledge and proposing recommendations how to avoid them. The targets of the thesis are achieved by studying information sources, interviewing students and discharging participant observation. The thesis consists of several parts. The theoretical part aims to define terms like data, information and mainly knowledge. Sharing, as an activity through which knowledge is exchanged among people, is reflected from different points of view, including knowledge management, school environment, ICT perspectives. Afterwards, the thesis provides a description of ICT tools that are heavily used for knowledge sharing by students. Tools were also selected on the basis of interviews, which is another important part of the work. Research shows that main difficulties in sharing knowledge with ICT lie in quality of knowledge which is just shared. Therefore, suggested recommendations mainly relate to these issues. Primary purpose of the thesis is to provide guidance to students how to effectively share knowledge with the aid of ICT tools.
Learning organization: case of law office

This thesis focuses on the concept of learning organizations. The aim of this work is to introduce readers to this concept and to explain basic theoretical background, which will be subsequently applied to a practical example. All work can be divided thematically into two parts. The first part will be devoted to the theory of learning organization, introduction to basic concepts and disciplines on which the principle of a learning organization is built. The second section will discuss the practical side. Selected law office will be subjected to analysis. The results will assess the level of the learning organization, which the law office reaches. Following will be recommended steps to achieve a higher level if possible.
